It’s time to celebrate summer with a HUGE party in the park and everyone’s favorite…FIREWORKS! Rooney Moon Broadcasting has partnered with the City of Clovis, the High Plains Community Development Corporation, Plains Regional Medical Center, and McDonalds to bring you the official return of Smoke on the Water!
Although Smoke on the Water has traditionally been on July 4th, this year’s event has been moved to July 10th, due to supply and staffing issues in the fireworks industry. The commercial fireworks industry is suffering a major hiring issue and companies are struggling to find enough employees to shoot 4th of July shows across the country. The company Clovis has used for more than two decades doesn’t have enough crews to shoot all of their shows this year and they cannot get employees back to work.
Duffy Moon, owner of Rooney Moon Broadcasting, the company that organizes Smoke on the Water commented, “We’ve exhausted every option to get a commercial crew that is licensed in New Mexico to our town on July 4th. Most companies are struggling to get crews this year and while July 10th isn’t ideal, it’s going to be well worth the wait.” According to Moon, this year’s Smoke on the Water fireworks display is set to be 25% bigger than ever before! “We have terrific partners, like PRMC and McDonalds, who really wanted to make the event special as we get back to some sort of normal,” said Moon. “With their help, we’re able to deliver a $25,000 display this year, and we pretty excited about that!”
July 10th, is going to be a full day of family fun at Greene Acres Park in Clovis. Live music on the main stage, food vendors, give-aways, and of course the main event at 9pm will be the fireworks. Rooney Moon Broadcasting’s Mix 107.5 and Big 1015 will be broadcasting live from the park from 3 until 9pm. Then, Mix 107.5 will have the official Smoke on the Water Soundtrack; a choreographed soundtrack for one of the largest fireworks displays in our region.
Some important information for this year’s Smoke On The Water:
