Clovis Municipal Schools will soon be sharing information with families about COVID-19 surveillance testing options available for Clovis Schools students. The effort to provide testing options for students was prompted by a Thursday, April 8, 2021, announcement from the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED), that the state will require all public schools begin providing surveillance testing options for students no later than April 26, 2021.

At this time, the state has communicated that testing of students will NOT be mandatory, but rather, will be conducted only with the consent of parents/guardians and on a voluntary basis. Currently, the District has minimal information to share with families and the community regarding the new expectations.

At this time, District leadership is reviewing the guidelines provided late Thursday by the state in order to develop a plan for offering student testing options that ensures compliance with state requirements. Further announcements with specific details will be made in the coming days.
