With the uncertainty surrounding collegiate athletics and the strain that this is placing on student athletes, Eastern New Mexico University has elected to partner with Talkspace to address their student athletes mental health needs.
Talkspace is a secure and confidential online mental health care service that provides student-athletes on-demand access to thousands of licensed therapists. After signing up for the service and being personally matched with a designated and licensed counselor, Eastern New Mexico student-athletes can now send text, audio and video messages at any time and any place that is convenient for them without the hassles of scheduling or appointments.
“We are pleased to be adding Talkspace as another tool in which our student-athletes have access to. Mental health and the overall wellness of our student-athletes has always been at the top of our priority list, but has never been more of a focus point than right now. It has been a difficult few months for our student-athletes and staff and to have access to a service that is anonymous, quality and available 24/7 is a blessing for our department.” Said Director of Athletics Matt Billings
Founded with the mission to eliminate stigma associated with mental health and make therapy available to all, Talkspace has been used by over one million people. All providers at Talkspace are fully licensed, have at least 3,000 hours of clinical experience and can help student-athletes with common collegiate mental health concerns including stress, anxiety, depression, relationships and more.
