James “Scott” Sparks has accepted the position of Deputy Director of Student Support Services.
Mr. Sparks began his educational career in 1986 at Las Cruces Public Schools as a Special Education teacher and coach. Later, he moved to Estancia and Hobbs were he coached football and taught Special Education.
From 1992 to 1997, he was a Special Education teacher and coach in Tucumcari. Scott was hired in 1997 by Clovis Schools and served until 2008 in various instructional positions, to include an Assistant Principal at Clovis High School, Compliance Coordinator for Student Support Services – IEP Compliance, and the Choices Alternative High School Principal.
In July 2008, Scott accepted a position at Aztec Municipal Schools as the Director of Exceptional Programs until June 2011. Upon retiring from Aztec Schools, Mr. Sparks moved to Colorado. In July of that year, Scott was hired by Boulder Valley Schools where he is currently serving as the Director of Special Education. Mr. Sparks received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1985 from New Mexico State University, Master’s Degree in Education Administration in 2003 from Eastern New Mexico University, and currently holds a Professional Principal and Professional Administrator license.
